Viagra is a prescription drug that is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It contains sildenafil citrate as its active ingredient. Viagra is also used to treat chest pain. This drug was the first pill that treats high blood pressure in the lungs.
Viagra is sold under the brand names Revatio, Revada, and RevatioPlus. The active ingredient in Viagra is sildenafil citrate. Viagra is available in 50, 100, and 200 milligram pills.
Viagra is available in three doses (100, 200, and 300 milligrams).

Viagra is available in pill form for most people who are 18 years and older. It can be split in half to receive each half containing 50 milligrams of sildenafil citrate, and split in half to receive 100 milligrams of sildenafil citrate. Any tablet or oral suspension containing sildenafil citrate is not approved for use in children under 18 years of age.
The pills are available in the following strengths and durations of action:
How Viagra works
Viagra works by increasing blood flow to the penis when sexual stimulation occurs. This increases the ability to get and maintain an erection.
Sildenafil citrate, the active ingredient in Viagra, is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. When the body absorbs sildenafil citrate, it works by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme. This action helps to increase blood flow and relaxes the muscles in the blood vessels that supply blood to the penis.
Viagra inhibits the PDE5 enzyme. This action helps to increase the amount of cGMP in the blood vessel wall. This cGMP relaxes the muscles in the blood vessel wall and allows for increased blood flow.
Viagra also works by relaxing the smooth muscle cells that line the blood vessels. This allows blood to flow into the penis when sexual activity is being performed.
Viagra does not work without sexual stimulation.
Viagra is not approved for use in women.
How long does Viagra last?
The effect of Viagra lasts up to 36 hours. It works for most people who take it. The drug stays in your system for a long time. This effect does not work for everyone and may not be the most beneficial for people who take nitrates or alpha-blockers.
Viagra is not intended for use in women. The effects of Viagra may last for up to 36 hours. The drug may not work for some people who take nitrates or alpha-blockers.
Viagra is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age. Viagra should not be used by people who are allergic to sildenafil or other PDE5 inhibitors, or who are already taking medications that affect PDE5 enzymes. People allergic to ingredients in medications used for treating erectile dysfunction should not take Viagra.

Many people think of Viagra as a miracle drug for impotence. But is it true?
Viagra has been a go-to treatment for millions of men for the last decade. According to a new study by the New England Journal of Medicine, the drug has been linked to a higher risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular events.
The study, published in the journal’s Journal of the American Medical Association, is an open-label, randomized trial of 100,000 participants. Those who had already had a heart attack or had a stroke between 2009 and 2016 had their prescriptions filled with sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra.
The researchers say that the higher risk is likely due to the medication being taken on an as-needed basis rather than a daily basis. They also say that the study results may be explained by factors such as age, sex, race, and other health conditions, which affect how the drug is metabolized.
The researchers say that while sildenafil is available as an oral tablet, some patients may be reluctant to take it daily.
Viagra, which is also sold as Viagra, was originally developed for erectile dysfunction but has since been shown to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, a condition in which blood vessels narrow in men. It's thought to work by relaxing the blood vessels and allowing the heart to pump blood.
The study, which was funded by Pfizer Inc. and the U. S. Food and Drug Administration, is expected to be published in the spring of 2025.
The FDA approved sildenafil in 1998 as the first FDA-approved drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Viagra's brand name, Cialis, was also approved for this purpose in 2003.
Viagra is not approved for recreational use, however. But it's believed to work by increasing blood flow to specific areas of the body, including the penis.
A recent study found that the risk of sudden cardiac death was about 40 percent higher with sildenafil use.
In addition to being linked to heart attacks and strokes, sildenafil is also believed to increase the risk of a number of other types of cancers, including breast and colon cancer. The new study suggests that taking sildenafil may be protective of these cancers.
The study, funded by Pfizer, is the first randomized controlled trial to evaluate the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events among men who have sex with men.
About one in three men over 40 have erectile dysfunction, but there is no specific reason for them to be so.
Viagra, sold under the brand name Cialis, is one of the most popular ED treatments available. Many men have taken Viagra for years, but many still use the drug as a last resort.
Dr. David Brennan, a urologist at New York’s Staten Island University Hospital, says there is “no scientific evidence that sildenafil is associated with an increased risk of a number of cardiovascular events, including sudden cardiac death.”
However, there is some evidence that the drug may cause other serious side effects, including:
“Sildenafil is a very safe drug,” Brennan says. It has been used off-label for impotence, but “there is no evidence that it increases the risk of serious cardiovascular events.”
Viagra has also been associated with an increased risk of other cancers. The risk of colon cancer was about 3 percent higher among men who had taken Viagra compared to men who had never taken the drug.
However, Brennan says that may be because Viagra is taken in a way that enhances blood flow to specific areas of the body, which is more effective than sildenafil.
Some men may be able to stop taking the drug, however. A study of men who have sex with men found that the risk of death from any cause was about 5 percent higher when they began taking sildenafil.
“If you’re taking a drug and your doctor says, ‘Yeah, I don’t remember a single one, can you just take it as a daily pill?’ you may not get any kind of benefit,” Brennan says.
The U. S. has become the first country to ban online pharmacies. The FDA is not the first to do so, however. On July 4, the agency issued a safety warning that "unapproved drugs and counterfeit medicines can have serious effects on consumers," according toby. The new warning will affect nearly two million Americans.
Here's some of the risks of online purchasing drugs that can be dangerous, and how they can be avoided:
Drugs, such as Viagra and Cialis, are used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). The drugs may interact with sildenafil and can increase blood pressure. Viagra, on the other hand, is a heart medication.
Viagra also increases the risk of heart attack and stroke in people taking nitrates.
Viagra can cause high blood pressure in some people, and it can also increase the risk of heart disease.
